Bayonne Badgers SMS/Text Messaging Privacy Policy

Bayonne Badgers, a New Jersey nonprofit corporation (“Bayonne Badgers,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operates a text messaging (SMS) program to notify hockey parents and guardians of important, time-sensitive announcements such as cancelled or rescheduled games and practices. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect the mobile phone number and related information you provide when you opt in to this program.

1. Information We Collect

When you opt in to receive text messages from Bayonne Badgers, we collect:

  • Your mobile phone number
  • Your name and, where applicable, your child’s team/program association, as provided through the Bayonne Hockey Club Parent Portal (portal.bayonnehockeyclub.com)
  • The date and method of your consent to receive text messages
  • Records of messages sent and delivery status, for program administration purposes

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to:

  • Send you SMS notifications regarding game and practice cancellations, schedule changes, rink/location changes, and other important, time-sensitive Bayonne Badgers program announcements
  • Confirm and manage your opt-in and opt-out status
  • Maintain accurate records for program administration and to respond to support requests

We do not use your mobile information for any purpose other than the purposes described in this policy.

3. Consent (Opt-In)

You opt in to this SMS program by registering as a parent/guardian and providing your mobile number through the Bayonne Hockey Club Parent Portal at portal.bayonnehockeyclub.com. By opting in, you consent to receive text messages from Bayonne Badgers related to game and practice announcements, including cancellations, delays, and other important updates.

4. No Sharing of Mobile Information

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in status to any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

We may share information with service providers (such as our text messaging platform provider) solely to the extent necessary to deliver the SMS program described in this policy. These providers are contractually restricted from using your information for any other purpose.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies and is based on team schedules and the occurrence of cancellations, delays, or other announcements requiring notice. You should expect to receive messages only when there is a relevant update to communicate — there is no fixed, recurring message schedule.

6. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Bayonne Badgers is not responsible for any charges assessed by your wireless carrier.

7. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by:

  • Updating your notification preferences in the Bayonne Hockey Club Parent Portal at portal.bayonnehockeyclub.com; or
  • Replying STOP to any text message you receive from us

After you opt out, we will send a final confirmation message and will not send further text messages to that mobile number, except as necessary to confirm your opt-out. You may opt back in at any time by re-enabling notifications in the Parent Portal.

9. Data Retention and Security

We retain mobile numbers and consent records for as long as necessary to administer the SMS program and to demonstrate compliance with applicable law, and we take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect this information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” above reflects the date of the most recent revision. Continued participation in the SMS program after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Bayonne Badgers SMS/Text Messaging Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your participation in the text messaging (SMS) program operated by Bayonne Badgers, a New Jersey nonprofit corporation (“Bayonne Badgers,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By opting in to receive text messages from Bayonne Badgers, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of the Program

The Bayonne Badgers SMS program is used to send parents and guardians important, time-sensitive announcements related to Bayonne Badgers hockey activities, including but not limited to:

  • Cancelled or postponed games
  • Cancelled or rescheduled practices
  • Changes to rink, location, date, or time
  • Other important, time-sensitive program announcements

This program is informational only and is not used for marketing or promotional purposes.

2. Eligibility and Opt-In

This program is intended for parents and guardians of Bayonne Badgers players. You opt in by registering through the Bayonne Hockey Club Parent Portal at portal.bayonnehockeyclub.com and providing your mobile phone number. By opting in, you represent that you are the owner or authorized user of the mobile number provided and that you are authorized to consent to receive these messages.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency is not fixed or recurring — you will receive messages only as needed, based on your child’s team schedule and the occurrence of cancellations, delays, or other important updates.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Charges depend on your mobile carrier and plan. Bayonne Badgers is not responsible for any fees charged by your wireless carrier as a result of participating in this program.

5. Opt-Out (Cancellation)

You may cancel this SMS program at any time. To opt out:

  • Update your notification preferences in the Bayonne Hockey Club Parent Portal at portal.bayonnehockeyclub.com; or
  • Text STOP to the number from which you received messages

Following an opt-out request, we will send one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent unless you re-enroll through the Parent Portal.

For assistance, text HELP to the number from which you received messages, or contact us through the Bayonne Hockey Club Parent Portal at portal.bayonnehockeyclub.com.

7. Supported Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. This program is available on most major US wireless carriers. Coverage and message delivery may vary by carrier and are not guaranteed.

8. Privacy

Our collection and use of your information in connection with this SMS program is described in our SMS Privacy Policy above. By participating in this program, you also agree to that Privacy Policy.

9. No Guarantee of Delivery

While we make reasonable efforts to deliver timely announcements, Bayonne Badgers does not guarantee that any message will be delivered or received in a timely manner, or at all, due to factors outside our control (including carrier network issues). This SMS program is a supplemental communication channel and should not be relied upon as the sole source of schedule information.

10. Acceptable Use

The SMS program will not be used to send deceptive, fraudulent, harmful, or unlawful content, and messages will be limited to the purposes described in Section 1.

11. Changes to the Program or These Terms

Bayonne Badgers may modify, suspend, or discontinue the SMS program, or update these Terms, at any time. Continued participation in the program after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
